Job Description
A Technical Specialist opportunity is available in the clinical laboratory at a regional medical center in Reno, NV. This role serves as the subject matter expert responsible for ensuring operational, quality, and technical accuracy across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical procedures within specific lab departments.
The role. The Technical Specialist functions as the senior-level expert within their assigned laboratory area, identifying, analyzing, and solving problems as they arise to maintain the integrity of lab operations. The incumbent is expected to perform all duties outlined in the Medical Lab Scientist and Medical Lab Scientist Senior job descriptions — or the Histotechnologist job descriptions as applicable — as directed by the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor. A key aspect of this position is regular collaboration with IT and LIS analysts to support system accuracy and workflow efficiency. The role demands a high degree of technical proficiency and the ability to maintain both operational and quality standards across all phases of laboratory testing.
What we're looking for.
- State of Nevada Clinical Laboratory Technologist or State of Nevada Histotechnologist license required at time of hire
- Ability to obtain and maintain a current State of Nevada General Supervisor license
- National certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), Histotechnologist (ASCP) or equivalent is required; ASCP Specialist Certification preferred
- Minimum three years of Clinical Laboratory Science experience in their specific area of oversight is required; five years of experience preferred
Schedule. Either days or swings, with a schedule of five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week.
Compensation. $95,000 - $134,000 per year plus 10k start to work bonus. Relocation is not being offered.
