The Hospital is a 763-bed healthcare facility located near Hendersonville, North Carolina. The hospital is known for being the region's only Level II trauma center, as well as being home to the only children's hospital in the western portion of the state.
Job Summary: Provides direct patient care by assisting the surgeon in achieving desired surgical outcomes. Aids perioperative team by scrubbing and caring for the patient before, during and after surgical intervention.
Required Education: Surgical Technologist with less than 5 years Surgical Technologist experience: graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist course with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied ScienceSurgical Technologist with 5 or more years Surgical Technologist experience: None - LPN in Surgical Technologist role with less than 5 years Surgical Technologist experience: graduate of an accredited LPN program with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied ScienceLPN with 5 or more years Surgical Technologist experience:None
Preferred Education: Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science.
Required License: Surgical Technologist: Current BCLS certification. Certification with NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assisting) is to be obtained within one year of date of hire for individuals hired after August 1, 2007.LPN in Surgical Technologist role: Current BCLS certification. Current NC license. Certification with NBSTSA is to be obtained within one year of date of hire.Individuals hired prior to August 1, 2007 are exempt from the certification requirement.

Required Experience: Surgical Technologist: Three years surgical technician experience with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science OR Five years surgical technologist experience in an operating room setting.LPN in Surgical Technologist role: three years surgical technologist experience with an Associate of Science in Surgical Technology or Applied Science OR five years surgical technologist experience in an operating room setting
Preferred Experience: Greater than three years CVOR experience
The CVOR has six rooms; five are traditional and one is a hybrid. We are physically, financially, and managerially separate from the main OR. We have a central core for all of our sterile supplies and instruments. Our hours are 0600-1830 Monday-Friday, any surgery taking place outside of those hours is covered by a call team of three. We also have “late call” to back up in the event that two cases go over during the week.
Experience Requirements (procedure type, patient population, equipment use, etc): Our patient population comes to us from 18 counties and urgent/emergent cases make up 70-75% of our caseload. We perform complex open heart and aortic, VATS lung and esophageal procedures, have a robust LVAD program, provide ECMO support, and are involved in numerous research studies. Candidates with at least one to two years of daily interaction on a busy heart team and a strong interest in patient care excellence will succeed at Mission.
Other requirements we need to list? (ie. on-call, weekend rotation etc?) The current call burden is 8-10 commitments every six weeks to include; one weekend which consists of Saturday and Sunday, and weekday primary and late call. Must live within 30 minutes for response time.
Certifications specific to your area, what is preferred or required: Certified Scrub Technician or LPN with CVOR scrub experience

Shifts: 2 openings with 6 pm-6:30 am x 4 days/week and 2 openings 6a-6:30p…Both have on call and must be within 30 minutes from hospital

Compensation: Approx. $34/hr. plus shift differentials based upon years of experience. UP TO $15K SIGN-ON BONUS WITH 2-YEAR COMMITMENT.
