Job Description
A Respiratory Therapist is sought to join the care team at a 221-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center in Sanford, FL. The hospital offers a full-service cardiovascular program including open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and comprehensive diagnostic services, as well as orthopedic and spine care, robotic surgery, acute inpatient medical rehabilitation, and complete imaging services.
The role. As a key member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs and documents patient assessments — including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure — and conducts diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy. The therapist administers respiratory care therapies such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy, and assists with placement of artificial airways, including initiating, monitoring, and maintaining mechanical ventilation. The role also involves transporting ventilator-dependent patients and responding to emergent situations to ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop skills in the Vascular Access arena.
What we're looking for.
- Must have at least 6 months recent acute care RRT experience (CRT experience will also be considered)
- NBRC and State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
- Completion of a two-year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or equivalent)
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- NRP - Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
Schedule. Nights with rotating weekends.
Compensation. $28.00 - $40.00/hr plus $15,000 sign-on bonus
