This posting is for a Respiratory Therapist at a 221-bed acute care hospital in Sanford, FL — a Level II Trauma Center offering the area's only full-service cardiovascular program, including open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiac rehabilitation, alongside orthopedic and spine care, robotic surgery, and acute inpatient medical rehabilitation. The position also provides exposure to vascular access practice.

The role. The Respiratory Therapist functions as an integral member of the patient care team, performing comprehensive assessments that include breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure, and conducting diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy. Day-to-day clinical work includes administering oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy, as well as assisting with artificial airway placement and initiating, monitoring, and maintaining both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. The therapist monitors patients for therapeutic response, communicates with providers when unintended responses occur, and intervenes as appropriate. Additional responsibilities include supporting the safe transport of ventilator-dependent patients and responding to emergent situations to secure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.

What we're looking for.
  • Completion of a two-year AMA-approved respiratory care program (Associate's Degree or equivalent)
  • NBRC credential and active State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) experience considered
  • Minimum 6 months of recent acute care experience as an RRT (or CRT)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) or BLS Instructor certification — must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or ACLS Instructor certification — must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or PALS Instructor certification — must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification — must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

Schedule. Night shift with rotating weekends.

Compensation. $28.00 - $40.00/hr
