Job Description:
As a Professional Fee Coder, your primary responsibility will involve examining and assigning codes to clinical notes and operative reports within at least one specialized field. You will offer guidance and documentation recommendations to physicians, practice management, and fellow coders. Collaboration with the denials team to resolve coding-related issues will be a key part of your role. You will play a pivotal role in promoting the Central Coding initiative and shaping the Coding Physician Service Center's image as a service-oriented organization. Your continuous goal will be to comprehend, meet, and surpass customer expectations and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scrutinize and assign codes to clinical notes and operative reports for the designated specialty/specialties.
- Coordinate and harmonize multiple schedules to ensure comprehensive charge capture.
- Enter codes into the billing system promptly.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable (A/R) team to address and resolve coding-related denials and rejections, including proposing new or updated coding edits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations through pertinent materials.
Qualifications:
- Preferably a high school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of two years of professional fee coding and/or reimbursement experience is required. Relevant education may be considered in lieu of experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology is preferred.
- Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a production-driven environment.
Compensation:
- Salary range of $19.54 (minimum) to $23.45 (mid) to $27.35 (maximum), based on years of experience.
