Job Summary:
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with respiratory disorders. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement effective treatment plans and provide ongoing respiratory care. Your expertise and attention to detail will be essential in delivering high-quality care to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatric populations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical examinations, and evaluating respiratory function.
- Administer a variety of respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, bronchodilator therapy, and chest physiotherapy.
- Monitor and adjust mechanical ventilation settings for patients requiring respiratory support.
- Perform arterial blood gas analysis and interpret results to assess and manage oxygenation and acid-base balance.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients with respiratory disorders.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and self-management techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure the safety and well-being of patients at all times.
- Stay current with advancements in respiratory care by participating in continuing education and professional development activities.
Qualifications:
- Valid license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the state of North Carolina.
- Associate degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Excellent knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, and equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in emergency situations.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills to assess patient conditions accurately.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on the needs of the department.
