Registered Nurse PCU
Job Description
DAYS & NIGHTS AVAILABLE! 1 year acute care experience or LTAC.
As a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse, you will be an essential member of the healthcare team, specializing in the care of patients who require intermediate-level monitoring and intervention. Your primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions, ensuring their stability and progression towards recovery. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and the ability to manage dynamic patient situations are key components of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Monitoring: Employ advanced monitoring technologies to assess and monitor patients with complex medical conditions. This includes continuous monitoring of vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other relevant parameters.
- Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans based on the specific needs of PCU patients. Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and timely interventions.
- Medication Management: Administer medications, titrate dosages, and monitor the effects of pharmaceutical interventions. This includes familiarity with a variety of medications commonly used in a PCU setting.
- Telemetry Interpretation: Interpret and respond to telemetry data, recognizing signs of cardiac distress or other abnormalities. Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement appropriate interventions.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families on the nature of their medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care requirements. Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications and self-management strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Critical Thinking: Exercise critical thinking skills to assess changes in patient status and respond promptly to emergent situations. Anticipate and address potential complications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting interventions, changes in condition, and responses to treatment. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital protocols.
