As a Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare team, providing compassionate and high-quality patient care in a medical-surgical setting. Your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients with diverse medical and surgical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical and psychological health.
- Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and changes in patients' conditions.
- Implement and adjust care plans based on ongoing assessments.
- Treatment Planning and Implementation:
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed.
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Patient Advocacy and Support:
- Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their needs are met.
- Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and effective work environment.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.
- Document nursing interventions, patient responses, and progress notes.
- Report and communicate effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
- Safety and Infection Control:
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Implement and enforce safety measures to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with advancements in medical-surgical nursing through ongoing education and training.
- Pursue opportunities for professional development and training.
