Job Description
This OR Tech 2 (Tier 2) opportunity is based in Kansas City, MO at a 585+ bed hospital designated as a Level I Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, with specialty programs including a Chest Pain Center, Breast Care Center, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, and women's services encompassing obstetrics and fertility.
The role. The OR Tech 2 works within the surgical services team, scrubbing in as first scrub across advanced specialty areas including robotic surgery, total joints, neuro/spine, and vascular surgery. Daily responsibilities center on preparing and maintaining the surgical suite with the instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for safe, seamless procedures, then partnering closely with the surgical team by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and managing specimens throughout each case. The technologist also assists with patient transport, positioning, prepping, and draping, with consistent attention to comfort, privacy, and safety. Between cases, the role involves efficient room turnover and rigorous maintenance of sterile technique to keep the schedule moving and the environment safe.
What we're looking for.
- Minimum 1 year of OR Tech experience required
- Competency to perform as first scrub in at least three of the following four specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, and Vascular Surgery
- Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire
Schedule. Available shifts include a mixed rotating schedule and a nights rotating schedule, each consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekend coverage; an on-call requirement applies.
Compensation. $25.00 - $35.00/hr
