Job Description
This OR RN opportunity is based in Kansas City, MO at a 585-bed regional medical center designated as a Level I Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, with specialty programs including a Chest Pain Center, Breast Care Center, and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation.
The role. The OR RN functions as an integral member of an interdisciplinary surgical team that includes surgeons, surgical technologists, and providers, applying critical thinking, scientific judgment, and technical skill to deliver safe, independent nursing care in the operating room. Before each case, you will evaluate patients, provide education to patients and families about the procedure and perioperative process, and assume responsibility for patient preparation — including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification. Throughout each procedure you will participate in briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and universal protocol verification per hospital policy, monitor patient condition, recognize and respond to emergencies, and document changes in condition and care provided. The team benefits from self-preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance, continuous investment in surgical instruments, devices, and patient-positioning equipment, and structured rounding with charge nurses to surface suggestions for care and workflow improvement. On-call is required during select non-business hours.
What we're looking for.
- 1+ years of recent OR RN experience (scrub and/or circulating)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Registered Nurse Diploma
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) — must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Schedule. Days (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and Nights (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.).
Compensation. $34.00 - $48.00/hr
