Nurse Manager of Med-Surg
Job Description
A Nurse Manager of Med-Surg is needed at a 99-bed acute-care hospital in Irving, TX, serving the community since 1997 with more than 500 colleagues and 400 physician partners. The hospital holds a Level III Trauma Center designation (American College of Surgeons), a Certified Primary Stroke Center (The Joint Commission), a Level II NICU and Level II Maternal Care Center (Texas Health and Human Services), a Certified Total Hip and Knee Replacement program (The Joint Commission), and accreditation for bariatric surgery (MBSAQIP), alongside cardiovascular, orthopedic, spine, and robotic surgery services.
The role. The Nurse Manager of Med-Surg carries 24/7 accountability for all departmental functions, aligning operational systems with service, staffing, and financial goals. Day-to-day responsibilities span payroll, hiring, scheduling, new-staff orientation, and competency validation for both new and existing team members, as well as ongoing coaching, mentoring, and annual performance evaluations. The manager builds and sustains productive working relationships across patients, families, physicians, and interdepartmental colleagues to advance department and organizational objectives. Anticipating business trends and translating them into sound operational decisions is a central expectation of this leadership position.
What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required
- Active Texas State RN license or RN Compact License acceptable under eNLC guidelines
- Previous recent Department Director or Manager experience required; strong Charge Nurse Coordinators seeking to step into a manager role will also be considered
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute-care Med/Surg experience required
Schedule. Full-time, day shift, no weekends.
Compensation. $40.79 - $61.19/hr plus $15,000 sign-on bonus
