Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Manager NICU
Job Description
This is a full-time Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Manager – Evenings opportunity at a multi-specialty hospital with more than 360 beds in Austin, TX. The facility includes a Level III NICU and a dedicated children's hospital, along with a women's center, kidney transplant center, robotic surgery institute, and comprehensive heart, vascular, and neuroscience services.
The role. The NICU Manager reports within nursing leadership and oversees a 97-bed Level III NICU with a daily census of approximately 75 and a team of 150 FTEs. In this role, you will direct the overall daily operations and staffing of the unit, ensuring clinical staff with appropriate competencies are matched to patient care needs and that evidence-based practices are consistently applied to support quality outcomes. You will manage admission and discharge throughput processes, facilitate interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments, and monitor clinical performance against internal and external benchmarks. You will also identify individual and team development opportunities, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the unit.
What we're looking for.
- BSN required
- Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in healthcare
- Minimum 2+ years in a supervisory role in an acute care setting; will consider Charge RN or Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) NICU RNs
- Specialty Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation — FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire / obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license
- BLS
- ACLS preferred
- NRP preferred, FHM preferred, RNC-OB preferred
Schedule. Full-time, evening shift, approximately 2:00 PM–10:00 PM five days per week, with potential flexibility for a four-day, ten-hour schedule.
Compensation. $150,000 - $150,000 per year plus $15,000 sign-on bonus
