Our Hospital Coding Auditor is responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of all medical coding and billing practices. This role is crucial in ensuring that our hospital maintains compliance with coding standards, which directly impacts billing accuracy and overall financial health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Review and Audit: Examine patient medical records and coding to ensure that coding practices are accurate and comply with coding standards and regulations (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
2. Compliance and Accuracy: Verify that coding meets regulatory requirements and payer guidelines, and identify discrepancies or errors in coding.
3. Documentation: Prepare detailed audit reports and documentation to support findings and recommendations for improvements or corrections.
4. Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to coding staff on best practices, coding updates, and compliance issues.
5. Collaborate: Work with healthcare providers, billing departments, and compliance officers to address coding issues and implement corrective actions.
6. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in coding regulations, payer policies, and healthcare laws to ensure ongoing compliance.
7. Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by identifying trends, recommending process enhancements, and supporting continuous education.
Qualifications:
-Certifications: CCS, CPC, and/or CIC Coding credential required.
-Minimum of 5-8 years of previous facility experience required.
-Minimum of 2 years of previous medical coding auditing experience required.
-Experience and knowledge in coding compliance criteria for all patient encounter types preferred.
-Cannot hire candidates from following states: CA, NY, CO, NJ, IL, HI
*Must have experience working with HB Coding – EPIC and 3M Systems (Required).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
