Job Description
A Market VP of Patient Safety opportunity is available in Asheville, NC, supporting a six-hospital system that includes an 853-bed regional tertiary and quaternary care center — the region's only trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III NICU, children's hospital, and a Magnet® designated facility for nursing excellence.
The role. Reporting to the Market Chief Medical Officer and leading a team of 9 FTEs, this executive-level position drives patient safety and risk management strategy across a multi-hospital market. The VP partners closely with the Market VP of Quality to advance safety culture, reduce avoidable harm through systems thinking and reliable design, and oversee the annual Patient Safety Program from design through measurable outcomes. A core focus includes ensuring ongoing regulatory readiness across The Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, and other applicable standards, as well as managing risk management and claims activities. The position requires occasional travel, including temporary placement at hospitals within the market requiring quality leadership support.
What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's degree in a clinically related field; registered nurse background preferred
- Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related field) preferred
- 4+ years of recent experience in leadership in a clinical and quality improvement setting in an acute care hospital, including management experience
- Previous experience within a multi-facility environment preferred
- Specific experience in patient safety required
- Clinical licensure, preferably RN
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
Schedule. Full-time, Monday through Friday administrative hours with occasional evening and weekend rounding.
Compensation. $137,000 - $190,000 per year plus Incentive Bonus of Up To 17.5%; Relocation: Case by Case Basis
