Job Description
A 285-bed Level II Trauma Center in Independence, MO is seeking a Manager of Emergency Department RN. The hospital holds an accredited Chest Pain Center designation and operates a Level III NICU, a Stroke Center, and an accredited Cancer Program and Breast Center, supported by 24/7 emergency services.
The role. The Emergency Department Clinical Manager provides direct leadership and oversight of the ED, serving as both a clinical resource and a professional role model for nursing staff. This manager acts as a liaison with the medical staff and is responsible for integrating department services with broader hospital functions, including coordinating care delivery across departments. Day-to-day accountabilities span clinical operations, budget adherence, and regulatory compliance, as well as the full employment lifecycle — hiring, onboarding, ongoing education, performance evaluation, and when necessary, disciplinary processes. The manager also develops, implements, and evaluates department policies and procedures that define the scope of ED services and guide consistent, competent patient care.
What we're looking for.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse Diploma
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ED Charge RN experience (within the last year)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) — must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) — must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) — must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
Schedule. Evening shift, Monday–Thursday, 2: 00 PM–midnight, with on-call rotation every three weeks.
