Job Description
A 420-bed hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The facility holds Level IV NICU designation, delivers more than 800 babies per month, and specializes in women's and pediatric health across a broad range of services including high-risk pregnancy, obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics.
The role. The Pediatric CICU RN provides direct patient care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, with a primary focus on critically ill patients with Congenital Heart Disease and/or those recovering from cardiac surgery. The nurse develops, implements, modifies, and evaluates individualized, family-centered, and holistic plans of care, maintaining thorough documentation throughout. This role requires sustaining a safe and therapeutic environment while actively incorporating patient and family teaching into every aspect of nursing practice. The nurse also participates in unit-based initiatives and process improvement efforts within the Congenital Heart Surgery Unit.
What we're looking for.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Associate Degree; BSN required with 6-month enrollment and 24-month completion (Magnet Hospital)
- Must have 1 year recent Pediatric ICU RN experience in an acute care hospital
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- CCRN Preferred
Schedule. Full-time, nights, rotating weekends; 7P–7A or 11P–11A.
Compensation. $42.03 - $65.10/hr plus $30,000 sign-on bonus
