This position oversees the operations of Labor & Delivery and Ante Partum Departments (Mother Baby and Perinatal High Risk). Plans, directs and coordinates all operational activities for areas of responsibility. Develops policies and procedures as well as the quality improvement programs for areas of responsibility. Develops the capital and operating budgets. Ensures areas of responsibility are appropriately staffed by hiring and retaining competent staff. As a member of the Hospital's management team makes a significant contribution to the public's perception of the hospital. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Responsible for development and enforcement of policies and procedures that ensure quality patient care. Responsible for ensuring adequate Human Resources are available in areas of responsibility. Responsible for maintaining acceptable turnover in areas of responsibility. Ensures operations run within budgetary guidelines. Responsible for positive employee engagement and appropriate communication with staff. Responsible for quality and performance improvement activities in department and multidisciplinary. Responsible for positive customer satisfaction results. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines as set by federal, state, local and other agencies (i.e. Joint Commission, Medicare, CMS). Facilitates positive productive relationships with physicians.
Job Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in hospital wide committees and task forces to support the overall mission, vision and objectives of the organization.
- Represents the departments in interdepartmental and community activities. May provide direct supervision to assigned associates.
- This individual ensures the timely, accurate, safe and cost effective delivery of services, which aids the medical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of mostly an adult and neonatal population of The Hospital.
- The Director will be responsible for the departmental performance improvement activity and reports.
- Develops strategic plans and completes annual service plans, budget for designated units or program.
- Monitors monthly budget reports and provides intervention as needed to maximize financial performance and to meet organizational financial goals.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS:
California Registered Nurse License
BCLS Certification
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 Years Managerial Experience required
5 Years in Labor & Delivery and/or Antepartum setting required
Acute Care Experience required

- #FTEs: 110 indirect reports; 1 Manager
- Types of Services: L&D and High Risk Perinatal; high risk deliveries
- Monthly Department Volume: 350 births/month
- # of Beds per Unit: 17 Bed L&D with 3 Recovery Rooms; 9 Beds Antepartum
Salary to $220,000 (based on years of experience)
