Job Description
A Director of Surgical Services is sought for a large acute care hospital in Las Vegas, NV. The facility is an 834-bed acute care hospital and the largest acute care facility in Nevada, housing 23 operating rooms and performing over 18,000 surgical cases annually.
The role. Reporting to the VP of Surgical Services and COO, this director leads a team of 3 managers and 167 FTEs across the OR, CVOR, endoscopy, anesthesia techs, SPD, and EVS OR. The surgical program supports adult and pediatric surgical services, an adult heart program, a pediatric congenital heart program (the only one in Nevada), orthopedics, neurosurgery, burn, trauma, and urology — handling 60–80 cases per day, with approximately 45% of volume originating from the emergency department and more than 30 transfers arriving daily from outlying facilities. The director drives clinical quality and patient safety by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices, managing clinical variation, and ensuring regulatory and accreditation compliance across all surgical areas. This role is also responsible for volume forecasting, patient throughput coordination, and budget stewardship — including labor management, productivity, and operating expense control. The director collaborates with administrative leaders and physicians to sustain existing service lines and identify opportunities to expand surgical offerings.
What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Master's Degree preferred
- 1+ years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience required
- 3+ years applicable experience in acute care Surgical Services required
Schedule. Full-time, days, no weekends.
Compensation. $123,448 - $185,182 per year plus Sign-on bonus available
