Job Description
This Director of Surgical Services opportunity is based in Anchorage, AK, at a 250-plus-bed regional medical center recognized with 5-star ratings for heart attack treatment, bowel obstruction treatment, and colorectal surgery. The hospital serves a broad patient population in Anchorage and draws clinical leaders seeking both professional challenge and access to Alaska's distinctive outdoor lifestyle.
The role. Reporting into senior hospital administration, the Director of Surgical Services holds full accountability for the operational and clinical performance of the surgical services department, including staffing, budget oversight, and quality outcomes. The Director drives evidence-based practice adoption to advance patient safety, manages clinical variation to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and ensures ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Working closely with physicians and the administrative team, this leader identifies opportunities to expand or develop new surgical service lines and supports volume forecasting and patient flow coordination to sustain throughput. The Director also builds department capability through active talent development, performance coaching, and engagement strategies that retain skilled perioperative staff.
What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
- Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of acute care Surgical Services experience required
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience required

Compensation. $137,737 - $206,606 per year plus Relocation: Case by Case Basis Incentive Bonus of 17.5%
