Job Title: Nursing Director - Acute Care Services
Location: Major Healthcare System in Wichita, Kansas
Position Overview:
The Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nursing Director to provide leadership for our Medical/Surgical Services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the care provided across four Med/Surg areas. This role offers an exciting opportunity to impact patient care and drive excellence in a fast-paced, acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for four Med/Surg areas, including specialized units such as Neuro Trauma, Oncology, General Surgery, and Medical units
- Ensure patient-centered nursing care in accordance with organizational standards
- Evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice through quality improvement initiatives
- Manage staffing patterns and resource allocation based on patient acuity levels
- Oversee budget management and fiscal responsibilities for the service line
- Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives for the Med/Surg areas
- Lead, coach, and develop staff to maximize performance and growth
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and leadership to enhance patient care and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols
- Represent the organization in physician, vendor, and community relations
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kansas or current Multi-State RN license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of five years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care setting
- Previous experience managing Med/Surg, Telemetry, Oncology, or similar units
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to drive quality improvement and operational excellence
- Experience with budget management and strategic planning
