Job Description
This Certified Surgical Technologist – CVOR role is based in Salem, VA at a 500+ bed acute care hospital with a designated Heart Center specializing in heart and vascular care, along with orthopedics and spine, behavioral health, and cancer services.
The role. The CST will work within the cardiovascular operating room, scrubbing C-sections and demonstrating proficiency with surgical instrumentation across CVOR procedures. The technologist registers and pre-registers obstetric patients, processes patient information, and uses the hospital's computer systems throughout the workflow. This role also involves performing infant testing and related tasks as directed by the registered nurse, and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the physical environment and all surgical equipment.
What we're looking for.
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program required (or grandfathered status recognized by the state)
- Active Surgical Technician license with current registration in the State of Virginia required
- BLS certification required; must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- 1–2 years of scrub or hospital experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Ability to frequently stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and lift patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
Schedule. Full-time, day shift with rotating weekends; shift hours are 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
Compensation. $24.87 - $38.30/hr
