Certified Surgical Technologist CVOR
Job Description
The Certified Surgical Technologist - CVOR functions under the supervision of the unit Clinical Nurse Coordinator and performs tasks assisting surgeons in the preparation and handling of instruments, scopes, supplies and equipment during interventional operative cases, specifically cardiovascular.
- Is responsible for maintaining sterility of the operative environment and holding others accountable to the same
- Observes all universal protocol requirements and surgical technologist standards of care
- Cares for patients from neonate to geriatric
Qualifications
- Graduate from high school or equivalent program
- Graduation an accredited school of surgical technology, or completion of a training program for surgical technologists administered by the US Public Health Service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard required
- Must have obtained surgical tech certification from a nationally recognized certification board prior to hire, and will maintain certification without lapse throughout duration of employment
- Current basic life support certification
- Experience in an acute care setting and main operating room
- Experience in CVOR and open heart cases is required
- Complies with hospital employee health, infection control, and safety management programs
Additional Information
- CVOR requires open heart and cardiovascular experience
- Shift: 4-10 Hour Shifts OR 3-12 Hour Shifts (depending on department needs)
- CST Certification required
- Cardiothoracic experience is okay as long as the candidate has done open heart cases
- On Call requirement is 1 day a week and 1 weekend per month
Compensation:
- Salary Range: Min: $42.22 - Max: $63.35 (Based on Years of Experience)
- Relocation: Case by Case Basis
- Sign-On Bonus: $15,000
- Evening Shift: $1.50 per hour
- Night Shift: $2.10 per hour
- Weekend Shift: $1.50
- On-Call Pay: $6.00 per hour
- Call-Back Pay: If called to work after having left the Hospital’s property when On-Call, an employee shall be paid, a minimum of two (2) hours of Call-Back premium pay at the rate of one and one-half (1½,) times the employee’s straight time hourly rate for all hours actually worked, plus one (1) hour at the employee’s base hourly rate of pay to compensate the employee for time spent in traveling to and from the Hospital.
