Job Description
This Certified CVOR Surgical Technologist role is based in Savannah, GA at a 600-plus-bed regional referral center serving 35 counties across southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina. The hospital is home to the region's only Level I trauma center and children's hospital, and serves as a referral hub for heart care, cancer care, high-risk pregnancies, and high-risk newborn care.
The role. Working under the direct supervision of the circulating OR RN, the CVOR Surgical Technologist assists the operating surgeon throughout cardiac procedures. Core responsibilities include setting up and managing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases; performing instrument and sponge counts with the circulator before the operation begins and before incision closure; and cleaning and preparing instruments for terminal sterilization between cases. The technologist also assists with patient positioning, transport, and obtaining needed equipment to keep the room and team ready for each procedure.
What we're looking for.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- One to two years of CVOR experience required
- Prior OR experience required
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Schedule. Full-time, day shift with rotating weekends; shifts run 10 or 12 hours beginning at 6:30 AM, with on-call requirements dependent on schedule.
Compensation. $28.00 - $38.00/hr plus $15,000 sign-on bonus
