Job Description
This is a CVOR RN opportunity in Sanford, FL, at a 221-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center offering the area's only full-service cardiovascular program — encompassing open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and comprehensive diagnostic services.
The role. The CVOR RN joins an interdisciplinary operative team — including surgeons, surgical technologists, and advanced practice providers — to deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative continuum. Core responsibilities include evaluating patients prior to surgery, managing patient preparation (intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification), and leading or participating in briefing, time-out, and debriefing protocols per hospital policy. The nurse assesses and continuously monitors patient condition throughout each shift, documents changes and care provided, and educates patients and families on procedures and postoperative expectations. Recognizing and responding to patient emergencies and contributing to ongoing surgical workflow improvement through rounding with unit leaders are also central to this role. On-call coverage is required, averaging approximately 10–15 shifts per month during select non-business hours, with a required response time within 30 minutes.
What we're looking for.
- 2 years of Recent Acute Care CVOR RN experience Required
- Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
- Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
Schedule. Days with rotating weekends; on-call required, averaging approximately 10–15 shifts per month, with a 30-minute call-back response requirement.
